Does the group think?

Nina Power

Nina Power discusses the collective political subject – what does it mean? She poses questions such as does a crowd think? Does a mob think or does it just act? What does it mean when we bring a group together to discuss something? Discussing the concept of the autonomous individual – what does this mean for humans who are born totally dependent on others? Drawing on the ideas of Feuerbach and Satre she discusses the individual and the social world we live in. The discussion ranges from the revolutionary situation, protest groups such as Extinction Rebellion, the Civil Rights Movement, BLM, social media, the mob and online witch-hunts and the violence of human groups.
