Working-class mothers campaigning against homelessness in Britain

Focus E15 is a London-based housing campaign that arose from the eviction of a group of young working-class mothers from a homeless hostel in 2013.

Cat Wiener, through her work with the Revolutionary Communist Group, helped get Focus E15 up and running.

The young single mothers faced down an obnoxious Labour Council who had contempt for them. These women forced a change in the narrative after occupying a social estate that had been left empty for 8 years.

Below Cat speaks to the ard fheis (national conference) of the Irish revolutionary current Eirgi about the local activism for housing: direct activism, community support, media, celebrity backing, and holding local powers to account.
