ANY COLOUR ROAD

by Don Franks

Last August in St Louis Michael Brown came walking by
nothing to remark on, just an ordinary young guy
officer Wilson’s cruiser had no cause to stop this kid
no cause, but that’s what Darren Wilson did.

Words were traded through the window, Wilson shot his gun
Michael put both hands up, he had no place to run
Deaf to Michael’s pleading Darren Wilson fired again,
close up aimed through Michael’s brain

Roll on the day we finally cause this system to explode
and anybody can walk free down any colour road

The police whipped up excuses, the justice system stalled
the brothers hit the streets, the establishment stone walled
they said let’s all not be hasty, of course it was a shame
but both sides must expect to pick up some of the blame.

Roll on the day we finally cause this system explode
and anybody can walk free down any colour road.

Paul Chase , Steven Wallace, Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown
don’t forget these people, don’t accept what’s going down
don’t trust the man, trust numbers beside you on the street
don’t ever let them kid you that their system can’t be beat

Roll on the day we finally cause this system explode
and anybody can walk free down any colour road.
