The following is from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine:

untitledThe Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees organized events in Ramallah and Gaza on Saturday and Sunday (June 7 and 8) in solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners as they enter over 45 days of hunger strike demanding an end to administrative detention without charge or trial.

In Ramallah, the UPWC organized a march of children on June 7 supporting the prisoners, beginning from the tent of solidarity with the strikers and marching through the streets of Ramallah, carrying Palestinian flags and chanting in support of the prisoners. The march was led by the children of prisoners, and the children of striking prisoners delivered a message to the Palestinian people and the world: “We are the children of prisoners on hunger strike, and we call on you today, after 45 days of the strike, to raise the pace of solidarity and broaden participation of all sectors of the people in solidarity with the prisoners. They are in danger, and they need you to put pressure in all areas on the jailer to force him to retreat and save the prisoners.”

In Gaza, the UPWC rallied on June 8 in front of the International Committee of the Red Cross headquarters in Gaza City, carrying signs and slogans demanding the freedom of the prisoners, and saluting their steadfast struggle to win their freedom and achieve their demand.

Comrade Tahani al-Jammal spoke, calling for all forms of struggle to push the Zionist jailer to respond to the demands of the brave striking prisoners, and demanded international action and accountability from the PLO leadership who, she said, must urgently raise this issue in the Arab League and the United Nations General Assembly to demand justice for the prisoners and pressure the occupation state to abolish administrative detention. Comrade Taghreed Jomaa spoke also, calling for an end to administrative detention and the implementation of all of the demands of the strikng prisoners. “The prisoners’ lives are in danger…human rights and legal organizations must take action to achieve their demands.
