Over 150 people rallied at the port this afternoon at short notice to support watersiders after Port boss Pearson said he wasn’t allowing them to return to work. Pearson’s actions amount to an unlawful lockout and contravene undertakings he made with the Employment Court the day before.
The employment laws are stacked in favour of employers, and most bosses abide by them on that basis. The Port bosses appear to be more of a rogue variety who are hell bent on casualising the workforce.
Watersiders are preparing to walk back into the workplace. Unionists, students, activists and supporters are rallying to show solidarity with the watersiders.
Come to Ferguson port 9am Friday 23 March to show your support for workers’ rights.
